I wonder though if it is contradictory that westerners adopt the trappings of eastern religion. Is the point of Zen, dogma and style of clothing, hair? Statues of the Buddha?

I am not Buddhist, but I am enjoying all of Roshi Joan's wonderful talks here so much. They work for non-Buddhists too.

My teaching of Zen is if a man goes through an airport turnstile sideways, you're going to Bankok.

What a lovely lady. My teaching of Zen is if you wish to know the mind of a man/woman, listen to there words.Her words are glowing with wisdom.
