Got the mount from combathuntingdotcom. This mount does not come loose. There are other mounts that suck but this one stays in place. The only thing you will have to do is file one part of the mount and put a shim under it. But other than that it is a stable mount. I don't want to hear anyone complain about the "scout mount". This is not the same thing. This is the mount you want for your M44 or M91/30
On another note, I am partial owner of www.desertvalleygifts.com
Type the link in and check out the site. You will find all kinds of goodies on there for the entire family. You will find things on there that you will not find in stores.

  • Nice setup. Your ammo should be fine for the m44. Its the headspace that is too much which allows the cartridge to slam the bolt face.

  • Negative, read my past post's. The ammo was too hot and expanding inside the chamber making it hard to eject. I shot 148 grain through it and it cycled just fine.

  • thats a long eye relief mount you have on the M44? Can the M44 be mounted successfully using a conventional mount over the receiver? I've use the scout mount type on Mausers ane other rifles but would rather use the conventional way for better accuracy and scope selection.

P.S. You should still check the headspace on that M44 anyway. Does the primer flatten out?

  • Yes that is a long eye relief scope. I got it from NCSTAR. I recommend finding a better quality scope than that. You can mount a conventional mount but you'll have to drill and tap the reciever and get a bent bolt. I just put a muzzle brake on this gun but haven't fired it yet. I will check the head space too. Thanks for your tip and happy shooting! Sorry for delayed reply too.

  • So what kind of groups are you getting at 100? would like to put together a M44 for hunting. Just want to make sure this type of rifle can at the least cut the mustard. Thanks..

  • When the scope stays on zero I can get groups of about 1.5 inches. You might want to mod your trigger for a lighter pull for better accuracy though. Don't ask me how to do that, I don't know. I'm sure you can find a video or a guide on here somewhere. The power of the internet my friend. Good luck to you! Lemme know how that works out for ya!

  • Worknsmart they are a $1 a round if you get winchester but you can look online and get surplus ammo for 25-50 cents

  • I had a similar issue with the bolt sticking. Took a brush for a 410 shotgun and scrubbed out the inside of the barrel and now it is smooth as silt. Well worth the 15 minutes it took me. Oh and Iraqveteran8888's video about "sticky bolt" should be a must see for you.

  • @kylecrs how much are rounds for the m44? a couple of guns shops by me have them in very nice shape for about $120~$140

  • Polish the chamber and the bolt will work better. Iraqveteran8888 has a video on it.

  • I just bought an m44 for 200 and the action on the bolt is superbly smooth. Whoever owned it previously must've loved it. (but they cant love it more than i do :))
