@atomicnortherner I guess they are wanting to be candidates for the Darwin Award. A condo complex where I once worked one guy that tried that on me after we did a tank swap out and I chewed his ass out royally. He went to the manager and she dragged me into the office where I chewed her out in the process as well regarding gas safety procedures. They didn't bother me again after after that over safety.

@douro20 u know that is 10.000 amps? it is VOLTS..not amps..

Those welders are fascinating.

@DennisOwnsMyBalls Dude this is electric resistance welding, The 10k amps are easily reached in this kind of process....

As well as testing for gas with an open flame... Do they check the electric ones by chucking water as it for a spark? "there was no spark so the wiring is safe" so odd to use a flame to test for gas, clearly people a safer way is to use gas leak spray (it bubbles up if a leak is present) or if you are cheap use undiluted washing up liquid

@douro20 I disagree. You don't need 10k amps to weld that. It would blow up.
-
@johneastmond I work for another water heater company, just wondering if you worked there.
That's 10,000 amps, not 10,000 volts.

@DennisOwnsMyBalls
Resistance welding equipment can generate that much current. Current is more important than voltage- the voltage itself is very low.
