I always liked this Howard Jones song and figured I'd cover it for kicks. It's a bit rough in spots but, then again, all of my stuff on youtube is so make of it what you will. I've got so many more songs to sing and am trying to get to those that requested certain artists/bands. I'm looking to get to some Stones, Skynyrd, James Taylor, Pearl Jam, Psychedelic Furs and others in the weeks ahead. Also still working on my masterpiece (HA!), the all inclusive "History of Rock".

  • @tiedupsmurf Why is it that the few people that leave derogatory comments here are always the ones with zero uploads (meaning zero creativity, no talent, and, in your case, lacking the balls to have their own material critiqued)? Maybe you and your seven friends on youtube can start a band and play to all those tied up smurfs you've holding captive in your mum's basement.

  • That he is me and I thank you for the compliment. The 80s had some fantastic music and this was one of my favorite songs from that decade. Glad you enjoyed it! All the best, Stew

PS- Canada rocks! I get up there every chance I can.

  • Thanks so much! It's always a boost hearing from people in other countries around the globe. I'd love to visit Italy someday and am even trying to learn the language so that I won't be just another ignorant tourist once I arrive. Hope everyone there is as friendly as you! Ciao. Stew

  • Thanks so much for all the nice comments, Lisa! If I ever thought Mr. Jones might be watching, I'd have tried harder to really get it right. Still, I had a lot of fun doing this song and loved it from the very first time I heard it. I'll put "What is love" as my first choice next time I cover another song by him. Got some other requests to get to but I'll add that one to the list. Thanks for spreading the word. Word of mouth rules! Stew

  • I do, too. Always been my favorite of Howard Jones's tunes so I figured I'd give it a shot. Glad you thought it sounded good. Thanks, Orpheus!

  • You're right-- it's a lot about nuances. Also, many performers voices change over the years so that their own interpretation or vocalization today is sometimes markedly different than when they sang in years ago. Bowie and Jagger come to mind... Anyway, glad you thought I Jones'd it @ 90%. Check out some of my other 'voices' sometime and feel free to comment again, thanks!

  • Thanks, artist! I cover a lot of different vocalists, so it's not always easy getting each one 100% perfect. I think if I listened closely to the original track before practicing, I might nail 'em even better. Instead, I tend to save time and go from memory, which is probably working about 90% as well. ;) I've always loved this song (my favorite by Jones). Glad you did too! Thanks for the comment. Stew

  • My pleasure, Alex. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks! Stew
