CARTA was recently featured on Charleston's WCIV-TV (Ch. 4)—particularly as high gas prices have people checking their wallets and saving as much as $200 per month by using the CARTA services.
The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA), historic Charleston's public transit system, ridership has grown by leaps and bounds since last year. January 2007 saw more than 42,000 riders than in January 2006—a 16.53% increase year-to-year. More than 3.2 million riders used the service in 2007, whether on the DASH trolleys while visiting the Charleston area, on fixed routes all around the Lowcountry, the CARTA Express commuter service, or the CARTA at Night on-demand evening service. When traveling around Charleston, CARTA has something for everyone!
