An original 1965 composed tune by Edwards,Bogle,Wilson, Taylor.(The Original Ventures)
'enchanting -fingerpicking-lick'during the intro/outro. A classic 'Mosrite guitar thru a Fender 'tube' amp'! I don't know why but I have never known then to ever play this one live!?

  • does anyone know ,where can i find good guitar tabs for this song ?I checked dozen of guitartab sites but finded only for bas..Realy sad =(

  • @DENMORG The only 'accurite' tab for this is published in Japan. And it can be difficult to get books published in Japan. Japanese Amazon.com is a possiblity!? Ocassionally someone on ebay will make some available.

  • Another really cool one that they DID play live (but rarely) was 'The Man from uncle theme'.. They do a really cool version during the '66 Japan 'Invasion' tours.

  • That is an interesting questions...I guess i would first try to contact the 'record label' and ask if they kept any information about the models or the modeling agencies they used in the mid 1960's....there might be a 'slim' chance Nokie,Don, or Bob may remember blondie?? Maybe I'll try to contact them at there website?

  • Okay, thanks for that comment..and the tip about the 'BIO BOOK'..which I was not aware of!

  • There was what I remember to be a kind of 'thorn in the flesh'...those 'Mosrite Guitars for the Ventures.....I remember Nokie pretty much said they weren't very good guitars!? Whether or not they were useing them in the studio is hard to say..but they were 'obligated' to promote them thus play with them Live all during the 60's.

  • Isn't this song on a Quentin Tarantino movie?

  • Wouldn't be at all surprised if the odd stratocaster wasn't used in the studio - you can get awful close to those tones using a strat through a super reverb on tunes like 'Solar Race' (pre-mosrite anyway????) and 'Fugitive'.

    Thanks for posting this classic.

  • If I have one complaint with the Mosrite, it is that notes are hard to bend because of the low "speed frets".

  • Great song . . . one of my Ventures favorites. I can do a decent job of it on my '65 candy-apple red, maple necked Mosrite . . . of course I can not duplicate Nokie's terrific performance. The Mosrite is an awesome sounding guitar . . . the reason why Nokie brought them to the Ventures. I sense that Don and Bob were kind of soured to them because of Semie not paying all he owed from their endorsement contract. But as you can see, Nokie and the Ventures use similarly looking guitars today.

  • You can find The Exotics from Milwaukee covering this on their "Lost Album".

  • This clean type sound is great to stay polished and keep your chops sharp and crisp. There is no distortion to hide those mistakes in. LOL I have to admit I am not crazy about the Mosrite guitar(s) but they are what they are because of The Ventures.

  • this has to be one their best originals!!!!!!

  • I still think this is my favorite Ventures tune. great little gem of a song. thanks for posting.
