The Oldest rulers of Taxila, the Takshakas, their modern descendants being Taka tribe, whose name originated from their worship of Takila, i.e. serpents, have given rise to the name of the city,Taxila, correctly Taksha-sila, i.e. the hill capital of the Takshakas, the exact Persian translation of which id Margalla, correctly Mar (serpent)-I-Qila (fort).it is on the western side of the Margalla Hill that Taxila is located on bank of a local river, called Tamra-nala, correctly Dharama-nala (Dharma meaning "Buddhist moral law) --a name derived from a nearby Buddhist stupa, called Dharmarajika stupa, the first of its kind erected by the Mauryan emperor Asoka about the middle of the 3rd century B.C.

I mean, a Hindu cult that is really dedicate themselves in worshiping this avatar of Vishnu than any other Hindu cults. Because this cult are the ones who did tried to preserve Buddhist holy sites as much possible.I dumb it down because I know most people (especially white people) don't even know this.

  • @KubernetePirata 'But yes, there's a Hindu cult that believed the Buddha was Vishnu'

Not a Hindu cult. All the Hindus believe that Buddha was one of the ten avatars of Vishnu.

  • Its both funny and shameful when we think of the fact that people no longer treat religion as simple religion. The Punjabis and the people of NWFP/SWAT(Suvastu) in Pakistan Were predominantly ither Buddhist or Hindu in the past. They even built a Sanskrit university(Thakshasila/Taxila).

Nowadays, increasingly, a lot of Pakistani Punjabis feel that they are some Arabs or something. This entire region(Sub Continent) is a land of immigrants, and massive cultural influences(internal and external).

  • @mkureel the first person who came in this world who was he?? my question is to the person above.. he was muslim..

  • To Christians out there: Buddhism didn't utterly destroyed by Islam in India. They suffered series of struggle in Hindu society which roots deep & they've always considered Buddhism to be heresy, Buddhism was very weak by the time the Muslim rise (or even destroyed before that) But yes, there's a Hindu cult that believed the Buddha was Vishnu, so they somewhat practice it.

  • Pakistan could've earned so much money through tourism by letting people come and visit these historical artifacts. They dont even maintain them. Its soo sad seeing these priceless history go to waste. i hate these extremists who destroy these statues.. taxila is a beautiful city full of culture and history, i should know because i was born there. Peace
