  • The Brentano Lieder was originally written for voice and piano in 1918, then later orchestrated in 1940, a time in which Strauss orchestrated a lot of his more popular Lieder for soprano. It makes sense because the thirties and forties were his best orchestrated works, including operas. By far my favorite composer!

  • the songs were first written for orchestra and soprano, I think...

  • @Pantarei

Yes, Strauss most certainly did orchestrate this song himself.

  • @Pantarei no, as far as i know Strauss didn't orchestrate this lied. I don't know who did it.

  • You have the distinction of being one of the few people in the world with the ability to sing this song. Your high notes are absolutely sensational!!!

  • Does anybody know if this orchestration was made by Strauss himself?

I had to make an orchestration for this lied and i didn't know there was already one.

  • Brava Betsy! What an artist!

  • WOW!!! She is really amazing!!! Bravo

  • Your name and comment using the "F" word are unacceptable. Why has it been allowed to show?

  • She had so beautiful voice!!!!!!!!
