Maybe the U.S. will be good again soon...we have some great younger throwers. Perhaps and era similar to Wilkins, Powell, etc. will arise?
-
i want to be able to throw like that one day.

True that the Europeans have gone past the US in the discus throw. We are too reliant on strength and we tend to try and muscle it with the upper body. I stress to my athletes to give up the control of the discus with the upper body, and hit it hard with the hips!!! Power/explosiveness, not strength is the key!!!!!

Well they are good discus throwers. they just need to get faster more explosive and little better techinque. i have a lot faith that they will get better
-
but i will say that the germany's have probably had some of the best discus throwers. Robert harting, Lars riedel, Jurgen schultz, Wolfgand schimidt.

yeah but in eastern europe throwing and other strength based sports are huge there. in the united states we love football and theres more money in football. so all the good athletes go into football and not throwing
-
not true. we have had john powell. art burns was pretty good. al oerter was the shit. 4 gold medals in the olympics. Thats pretty good to have that many good discus throwers. but we do have a lot good shot putters over discus, hammer and jav

Korn- word up :) but when we have so little populiation, we respect our athletes much more.. but look to americans discus throwers now, they have massive muscles, this is doesnt need, discus is not body building.. you have to be strong, fast, quick, but not so muscular :)

dortiz 29 but look to that, Lithuania has a populiation about 3.000 000 people, nothing to compare with USA, You have better chance, more talents, better environment, sponsorship, sport facilieties :) Lithuania just a small part of EU(europe union), but you are one of the biggest and strongest country in the world:)
