Liv told the lie because Nat could not, it would be a sin. All the things Nat is saying after that seems to correspond to what Liv said but it was actually the truth.

To me, this last bit is so indicative of how well these two fit together. All the way along, it's been totally obvious why Olivia needs Natalia. But when Nat glances at Liv at 1:35, she looks completely wiped, and Olivia, the consummate player, steps in and smooths things over. Nat draws the strength to keep it together and fend Frank off. I am in awe of these writers -- and CC and JL for carrying off the material so well.
