The task of the German non-profit-organization "Rettet die Elefanten Afrikas e.V." (Save the Elephants of Africa), founded in 1989, is the protection of Africa's grey giants through projects and support of established programmes. The large project called "Mein Patenkind heißt Jumbo" (My godchild's name is Jumbo) supports the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, famous for hand rear of fully milk depended orphaned elephants and their re-integration back into the wild. Furthermore REAeV supports Scouts of the Wildlife Action Group in Malawi in their struggle to protect the returning elephants in the Thuma and Dedza-Salima area. Other supported projects have been in Uganda, Shimba-Hills and Amboseli N.P. in Kenya, Malawi and Mali.

NARRATION:
"Poaching and conflicts with settlers decimate the elephant population of Africa. When elephant herds flee in panic or in case of the death of an elephant cow, helpless elephant babies remain.
Fortuitously retrieved, the orphans get carried to Kenyas elephant nursery, reared by keepers and later successfully re-integrated into the wild. The costs of the project are substantial.
Therefore the German organization "Rettet die Elefanten Afrikas e.V." supports the orphanage financially. You have the great chance to help the orphaned elephants in becoming a foster parent. It costs only 25 Euros per year!"
