  • slapstick comedy parades & appears to be violence... but isn't intended to have the same meaning as other violence in film/media have.

  • Very true. But I've noticed that some modern American audiences have difficulty understanding the difference. Most recently I've observed this in the redacting of certain animes with the "official" dub.

  • It's not a Charlie Chaplin song. The first of the two songs used for this short is "Out in an Automobile" by Arthur Collins & Byron Harlan, circa 1906. The second song is, of course, "U Can't Touch This," by MC Hammer, 1990.

  • Charlie Chaplan was always big on voilence.
