This distiller was made from materials that I had handy. The sheetmetal was folded to make a drain tray and also the main body. Marine or exterior plywood could have been used instead.

The glass panel was from an old window (measures 870 x 810mm, but other sizes can be used)

After folding the sheetmetal and making the two side panels, all were riveted together with pop rivets and then painted black inside and out to help absorb more heat. The joints were then sealed with silicone sealant, tested for leaks and a drain hose fitted as close to the bottom of the drain tray as possible. A 25mm hole was made in the back panel about halfway up to add tap water (could be saltwater too). The glass panel is added last and sealed with silicone sealant to prevent any water vapour escaping.

For South Australian conditions, place the distiller with the glass panel facing North-West.

On a warm spring day you can expect between 1 and 5 litres of production, on a summers day more.

  • Can this be used to clean polluted water in places like African rural villages?

  • @kmccampb It sure can, although it was designed for industrial use, with a few small modifications it would be suitable for drinking water.

  • ...the water you begin with. It can't have ever been in plastic, especially if that bottle was exposed to sunlight. The plastic will produce minimum two hazardous products. The water, if it contains pesticide/fungicide/herbicide will also react with sunlight.

There is a comment regarding availability of distilled water. That issue is already addressed by "ozonating" all bottled water. Ozone in bottled water produces the Genotoxic byproduct Potassium Bromate. This is BAD STUFF.

  • @frootloopsian This unit was designed for hydrogen fuel cell use, so all of the comments that you have made are towards drinking water I would expect.

  • how long does the distillation takes? and do you get 100% of the water back?

  • @defuzed28 Depends on the heat of the day, the amount of humidity of the day. All water is collected,.

On a warm day I have collected about 6L with the small unit shown in the video.

  • Obama wants to make organic food illegal. I wonder if the NWO will make distilled water hard to get since colloidal silver is an excellent anti-virus / anti-bacteria agent. And no, I haven't turned blue... but I have got on the better side of the 'compromised immune system' thing and chemtrail stuffs. (Hmmm :-) nice.)

  • haha , what's up with you playing some NICE underground house 1994 type in the background ?

    track id please :)

  • @regpye your awesome for making this video! favorited.

  • Most Silicon Sealants have chemicals which cause cancer.

  • Very good work. I also like to invent something. I am a biologist and teacher. Greetings from Brazil.

  • I have done a fair amount of water research document review during the past 35 years. The pesticide HCB (Hexachlorobenzene) is present in every natural drinking water source, and is also present in the sediment. This is due to the inadvertent production of HCB from pulp mils, oil refineries, and now the Garbage Incinerators. The Gamma Isomer of Benzene interacts with sunlight, in the presence of certain other compounds, and POOF! It's magic. Pesticide.

Removing HCB etc from water is difficult.

  • @frootloopsian

So basically what you're saying is that life is hopeless and we'll all die terrible deaths and we may as well stop eating and drinking right this very moment to make it all end more quickly?

  • @Brasik1 hiya, you just leave water exposed to sunlight in a sealed, see-through container i.e glass, not plastic and UV rays in the sunlight kill 99% of bacteria. 3-7 hours in UV light.

  • @frootloopsian sunlight will kill most bactera over serveral hours due to the UV light.

  • It would be easy to make this distiller sevral hundred feet long for more distiled water output and the feed water would become highly mineralized and make a good fertilizer for non food crops such as cotton or algee for feul production.

  • For a minute or two there, I thought I was going to watch that glass bottle slowly fill all the way UP until video ended.
