  • nice review, but i have one question. I have photos on my old computer that id like to keep, is there any way i can keep my photos somewhere on the Joli OS ? like a desktop and folders?

  • @Robotbop1 Ya, there is a file explorer built in but you can probably get a photo application as well.

  • I run the latest version of joli os can you tell me if there is a screen capture package i can install and if so how to install it

  • @Unitsixsoldier I'm not sure if there is but you can always google it.

  • is it possible to use this OS offline? Because i want to use this on my Netbook.. and i am not onine every time.. so is it possible?

  • @Ang3lbyteZ Ya. Many of the applications are built for offline use as well like Open Office.

  • @Robotbop1 Picasa works on linux as well and there's a .deb package you can download for for Debian-based distros like Joli OS. Just look for Picasa for Ubuntu.

  • very nice review! keep up the good work! cheers from Greece!

  • I tried this OS for a few days. It was cute, but not for me. Maybe if my mom wanted me to set up a really simple netbook I'd recommend it, but not for anyone that considers themselves a "power user"

  • Can you also link it to iCloud like you did to Dropbox

  • nine but it not me sorry

  • @TheRealBlackClipz JoliOS is to Linux as Windows 7 is to Microsoft, and same with iOS/Apple. It is its own software brand, so yes you can install on most anything.

  • Is Joli OS Only For Apple Products, Or Windows Also?

  • @TheNXT1233 691 MB, I don't know if you still need the info, but here if you do.

  • Thanks you convinced me to switch from my quick but not blazing ubuntu 11.10 with gnome 3 (unity slows my computer to a crawl, I only have a netbook with one GB ram) to this, I have not installed it yet but look forward to doing it. Wanted to a couple months ago but couldn't find the download link in their site( I feel stupid! Big Download Buttons in the middle of the page!). But good review, you covered the features nicely. Thanks.

  • @GotsProblems ubuntu 11.10 with unity

  • What kind of OS would do you think is best optimized for touchscreen?

  • Lol. im watching this on Joli OS 1.2 xD

  • @madmitch105 well, whats the point of her question then? you have to be online in order to login to jolicloud, so why would you care about apps that work offline? Anyways, i ditched it anyway, just not as great as windows, maybe good for someone with a older and slower computer, but not for a newer...

  • @MrMakeman Windows is great as long as you have the latest and greatest hardware to back it up. There's plenty of linux distros that run great on older machines and there's plenty of alternative apps to the usual windows apps besides openoffice. The reason linux isn't popular for business is because a small percentage of people even realize it exists and there isn't enough money to be made with it.

  • @madmitch105

Windows is great for businesses. It runs on everything and has ton of official office programs. Like MS word, and if you can use it on linux too with Open Office.

  • @MrFuzzycrackboy you're wrong... you have to have internet access the first time you install it and turn on your computer, after that just let it sleep and it'll be fine.

  • @prathap7777 neither it's linux. If anything mac is based on this... sorta. Windoze just sucks.

  • i tried joli for a about a month before they updated to 1.2, after that my netbook (which is less than a year old) constantly froze and never seemed to function right. After dealing with this for about 3-4 months I had to switch to Ubuntu 11.04. Joli ran a little better (when it ran) but I started getting pissed when they only seemed to care about "dropbox integration". Ubuntu was just as easy to install and gave actual updates, like an OS should.

  • which is the direct x for this

  • nice review very informative

  • it is mac based or window base?

  • great review. I'm going to install it on my laptop and computer. My computer is very slow so this will hopefully make it faster.

  • how much space does the iso take

  • Has anyone tried using the Onlive app for Joli OS? If it works well...then cloud computing not only has a awesome "desktop" environment, but gaming is also available at the click of an icon.

The traditional desktop may well become a thing of the past in the not too distant future. Obviously workstations will still exist for developers and extreme gamers, but I'm guessing a good 80-90% of the computing population could be satisfied by something like Joli OS.
