I admire Israel strength and virtually clever. That's one of the reasons I have left Islam.

i would argue that Egypt did this (ordering UNEF troops out of the Sinai) in hopes that this would DETER the Israelis from starting a pre-emptive war on a 2nd front (1st front against Syria). This was done in hopes that a war would not start because Syria was goading Israel into war at the Golan and Nasser doubted that his troops would hold up against the IDF, as his best troops were deployed in Yemen at the time.

It would be interesting to know whether this 'Sandhurst' historian is Jewish or not. Many historians who comment on Israel and write about it (e.g. Martin Gilbert) do not disclose that they are Jewish.

air forces were not hidden u can't hide many planes; those hit were parked 1 real plane1 fake etc. Nasser sold Sinai to Israel via intermediary of the U.S & ??. He was not betrayed, he betrayed Egypt; first by 'nationalization', 'sequestration' , refusal to keep pacts/promises made, complete treachery on all fronts he & his partners brought down Egypt's economy; at that time the EGL was worth more than the GBP & the $. He brought down education, agriculture etc;Egypt is still suffering Nasser

No, the hidden location of his air forces were revealed to Israel. He was betrayed and the preemptive attack came as a huge shock. The Israelis knew exactly where to strike. There was a betrayal by seniors on his side involved.

personally i believe Nasser was in league with Israel or a complete idiot because he knew the Egyptian army / airforce did not have the power to fight Israel & the U.S especially as they had already the nuclear bomb, napalm, chemical weapons etc.
