Education and training of a siberian husky pack

All our huskies are working sleddogs (the young ones not yet, but they are going to be) out of siberian husky working lines. The old ones (Jaakko and Roots) have spent their life in a kennel in the french alps to pull tourists all winter long. They have been with us only 2 years for Roots and a little more than 6 months for Jaakko.

Every day I try do to some specific training with our dogs. These are siberian huskies Jaakko (grey white, 11 years old), Roots (wolf brown, 9 years old), Daika (wolf brown with white tail tip, 2 years old), Ebi (white, 8 months old) and Ewok (wolf brown, 4 months old) and old giant yorkshire terrier Berny.

They learn to stay quiet when I go to the kennel door to open it. To come, sit, down, stand and stay there. To heel and for those who show themselves interested: to bring objects when I throw them.

They also learn some less obvious things: to not disturb me and the dog(s) I train, when it is not their turn. This is especially difficult for the young ones.

Daika in addition knows some fancy tricks such as jump into my arms, do the rabbit and the leg-slalom.

Berny is a Yorkshire terrier cross breed. He looks just like a york, he is just much bigger (8kg).

During the training season (from september to march), the run 3 to 5 times a week. We start with runs of about 3 km and then increase the distance progressively to 15 to 20 km. Off-season, they don't work out much et all. They play a lot together in our garden, and we do a lot of basic obedience training. I try to take turns to take them out one by one into the next village (market days). I also go running every day, and take another dog every time.

Great dogs!! They're BEAUTIFUL!!! I have an all white female Siberian Husky with blue eyes, and were getting one that's red and white with blue eyes soon. (Just waiting for him to be weened). I want to have a pack like yours in a few years maybe. My Husband and I just love Huskies and yours are Gorgeous. Awesome Vid.

Thanks for your comment! Our huskies are really social and go along very well with each other as well as with other dogs. But the best thing is still to get them pulling and discover kilometers of trail in the woods! Check out the rest of our videos!
