My current gear . With all the options out there here are some insights into what has worked for me personally. As always what works for one may not work for another, but by comparing and contrasting we can fine tune our systems specifically for our individual needs.

  • What manufacturer and size is the waterproof stuff sack that you use for your alpinlite? Also, can you please give me more information about the Jaks R Better blanket that you feature in your video? Thank you very much in advance for your help!

  • @firemedic8144 I use a sea to summit compression sack for the alpinelite a large IIRC. What would you like to know anout the JacksRbetter quilt? Would be happy to answer any questions. Check out Jacks r better . c o m .As you can see they now make it in a much nicer olive coloration as oppossed tho the neon green on I have LOL!

  • If you get a down bag wet, simply start a fire to keep warm. There are videos all over YT showing you how to survive without a tent or sleeping bag and stay warm and dry. The weight, heat, comfort and durability of down over synthetic makes it worth it.

  • @isntlovegrand I agree with you that the Down is worth it, but starting a fire when its been raining for 4 days straight is not always "simple" you know as well as I. For lots of people, especially those new to outdoor activities or those who dont have the most physical ability, old-young... the synthetic vs, Down debate is an important one, and worth considering in ernest. A video on youtube isnt a bit of good when its been raining all day, stedily turning to freezing and you slip in a creek.

  • @isntlovegrand never weigh your gear choices against your survival skills. Work towards them complementing each other. ;-)

  • Felicitations from sunny England.

    Love the review.

    Looking at a Summerlite now.

    Cheers

    Steve

  • Nice bag...I've got the WM Alpinlite too and love it. Well worth the $400+. I laugh in the face of cold weather!!! I also use Tyvek for my groundsheet with my Tarptent. If you want to get rid of that 'crinkly' sound--throw it in the washing machine. It'll soften it up and quiet it down. :)

  • hows it fit in your back pack?

  • your 100% right about the bag. spend the extra money and you'll be way better off. I just got a marmot and my friend got a $30 walmart bag. I was laughing at him all night long when it dropped into the 20's!
