F/A-18 Hornet Injesting FOD

This video, taken by my cousin, shows what can happen when an F/A-18 Hornet at full power, injests a piece of FOD (short for Foreign Object and Debris)

Well, being a Hornet, they'll probably bang out the sheet metal, replace a part, and it's flying within an hour.

i have to agree, from a defence standpoint, i will always favour a twin engine fighter/ fleet defender etc.

I think Navy jets need 2 engines. If something similar would have happened in flight, he could have returned to the ship. Why would they consider a single engine aircraft like the F-35C?

@rickrollification there are even trash cans sitting around commercial airport ramps labeld "FOD", i think its used as a noun pretty often

correction i have worked ad an engineer on multiple air force bases and its foreign object DAMAGE, the debris part is a common myth.
