Some scenes from old footage taken in 1988 & 89 of the last trains to Korong Vale & Maffra on the Victorian Railways system. Featuring R761, D3 639 & K190. Note the speed of R761 hitting the points at Bunyip. Anyone know the correct dates of these trips?

  • whereabouts is this in Victoria.

  • @MrNininchnailhead The first trip is up in the far north west of Victoria, the other in the opposite direction, the far east, near Bairnesdale in Gippsland.

  • The footage of R Class Is running through Longwarry (Not Bunyip)

The video was taken from the now demolished footbridge, that was built for the proposed new Longwarry station (that was never completed)

  • While the station is long gone, the line is still open through Korong Vale and sees regular wheat traffic.

  • The points at Bunyip are 65km/h

  • Talk about a violent jolt at Maffra!

    Great Video!
