I remember my dad coming home from work, kicking back in the recliner, putting on his slippers, turning on the tv, and always popping open a gansett.. it was all he ever drank.. dad died 12 years go now,, but whenever I think about him I grab me a gansett.

There was a slower, folkier version and it was better. I remember the singer as a weathered baritone. In fact, I remember the ad being played immediately after PC had lost to Penn in 1972. Living on the Cape and feeling a million miles from Rhode Island and never to return, I cried for the rest of the night.

I 'm a New Englander , Live in MA , attended school @ Johnson & Wales and bought 'Gansett by the case back in the day . They used to run sales on it every once in a while ( $5.99 a case plus deposit ) . I'd always stock up and have an emergency stash for those Sundays when beer could not be sold . Who remembers the " Blue Laws " ?

I've had this on "favorites" for a few years & I never get tired of watching it!!!! Great, great ad! Go, 'Gansett!"  And Go Rhody!!!! I still remember the brewery in Cranston. Can anyone tell me the name of the street it was on? I haven't lived in RI for over 40 years but I can still see that big building!

@steveswb Hi neighbor ! I recently saw Jaws on cable and Quint was drinking a 'Gansett in an early scene-then he crushes the can. I'm gonna pop one as soon as I get home.
