Every night before I go to bed, I can hear Mater purring beside me, cuddling up and falling asleep beside me. She used to be like my own little gardian angel. Everytime I would cry, I would sit on my bed while she jumped up and curled up in my lap. I would tell her what was wrong, and when I was finished, she would purr and fall asleep to make me smile. My dad is a great photographer, and I used the pictures of her plus a couple I took myself that we had to make this video. She was killed late Friday night, and my parents found her on the road at about 1 in the morning.
Sometimes I still find myself looking under my bed and downstairs on the couch, looking for her. I'm almost expecting her death was some terrible joke, and that she'll show up.
Some people say that this is the reason to keep cats indoors; but Mater loved running around outside. It would almost seem inhumain to do something like that to her. She loved going outside at night, and often killed birds and mice, so when we saw her, we suggested she must've been chasing something. Except instead of Mater taking the rabbit's life, the rabbit got away and Mater lost her own life in the process.
December 10 is not the day we bought her. When we visited my great aunt, who's cat had kittens, she promised we could have one. When we came to pick her up, she gave us a large box to hold her in, which on the top said: Born, December 10, 2007.
Mater will always be remembered.
