The vocals here are impressive. The "Live" release has beautiful vocals, plus the sweetest 12 string playing you'll ever hear!!!! Stephen is extremely talented, and underrated

and sex, when nights were lost perfecting crude
translations of Medieval Latin .
Sing that time we traced womb-shaped vases graced
with red and black nymphs and gods and heroes.
Sing to an aulos broken and rusted,
once blown by Greek boys, puff-cheeked and dancing.

In the1970s I was at uni studying Classics. Every time I hear this song I'm back there. The following poem came from those days listening to Stephen Still's beautiful voice- in 2 parts because of character restriction:
Sing Stephen Stills
that Summer Apollo straddled campus
and you changed partners; loved the one you’re with.
Sing that time of Catullus, Propertius
and Tibullus, conjurers of sparrows

@davertainment Both "The Eagle & the Hawk" and "Change Partners" were released in 1971, although the Stills demo recording "Just Roll Tape" shows that CP was composed by early 1968. Never would have thought to compare John Denver and Stephen Stills before now, but the two songs are definitely similar.
