Ever heard of Kaneko's other fighting game, Blood Warrior? It looks like it's the sequel to Shogun Warriors, due to having characters and Japanese culture theme that are almost identical, but Kaneko hasn't confirmed it, and probably wouldn't, because they are now defunct. Other fighting games developed by Kaneko are Power Athletes and The Kung-Fu Master Jackie Chan.
I actually had to look up info on 'Shogun Warriors: it's a 1992 title from Kaneko, made during the time when everyone wanted to cash-in on the initial 'Street Fighter 2' craze.
I believe the reasons why you haven't seen it was that it was an arcade exclusive, it was rarely shown in video arcades in North America, Europe and probably Japan, and was overshadowed by the success and popularity of Capcom's Street Fighter II.
Yes, I have.
'Blood Warrior' ('Ooedo Fight' in Japan, according to Wiki) was the sequel to 'Shogun Warriors.'
It used digitized characters, similar to 'Mortal Kombat.' It even had bloody fatalities like the MK games.
I'm sure there are Blood Warrior vids floating around YouTube. I know 'cause I've seen a couple of them. Never played that game, though.
