This tutorial assumes you have a compatible router that has the tomato firmware flashed onto it.

You can find the tomato firmware at the official site: http://www.polarcloud.net

This tutorial teaches you how to establish a bridge between the primary router, and the secondary router (one using tomato). What this means is that you can have the primary router in the basement, and then the second router in your living room where all your devices are connected to it. No need to buy more adapters!

  • connecting two routers together wirelessly? not exactly smart considering it kills your bandwidth -___- quit being lazy and run a straight through cable LAN - LAN.....

  • @gdfschimpi007 I am not going to run a cable from one room of the house to the bottom floor. I will take my hit with the wifi method.

  • HELP

I have a question. Will i be able to use wireless internet: like laptop, Ps3, etc.

our desktop got moved to the basement and theres no internet there. i remembered this video and im gonna try it. Ive got two routers, one with tomato and a regular plain router. the modem is upstairs with the tomato. I was gonna have the tomato bridge with the other router in the basement. would i have to use plain router for wireless internet or can i use tomato?

  • @thelonestranger777 This is how you do it. Have the modem connect to the PRIMARY router. Have the second router be tomato, and be the bridge. Now take that tomato router to wherever you need the internet (basement, bedroom, whatever). If you setup the bridge successfully, then any wireless device will be able to go online. This is what I'm doing. I got the primary router with modem downstairs in the living room, then I have my tomato router upstairs connected to my xbox. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity What if my modem is the router?

  • @tidalwave399 Then you cannot use tomato. Move on, sorry.
