My RX8's first engine. What it was like just before it expired, so an easy way to see the "Hot Start Issue" in action.

  • Bad fuel economy, drinks oil,no low end,not vary reliable, nobody can work on it. So why buy one just drive one and you will know I love my 8

  • Rotery engines are horribley unreliable. Low power output and worse fuel economy then a modern V8 to boot. The RX8 is such a nice car...too bad its saddled with a "just to be different" gimmick engine.

  • @addplusminus35 Not really that unreliable if taken care of. I'll concede the bad fuel economy though. Power output on one with decent compression is plenty though. You'd have to have one for a while to appreciate it though, never found a car that offers the same appeal to replace it with which is why I still have mine.

  • What's the name of the song, please ?

  • @VeryNewProject iMovie stock Japanese sounding tune. Can't remember the name.

  • Bro u gotta learn to wait till the lights on the dash turn off. Just don't plug and start the engine. There is a reason for that. AND I AM NOT SAYING THAT IS THE CAUSE FOR UR DEAD ENGINE. just givin friendly advice. i myself own an RX8.

  • @mitsubishi802 it dont drink oil its only a special lubrication system whith is necessary in wankel engines

  • damn! So , due to this guy's story , if you buy an rx-8, you have to buy 3-4 pieces spare engines , just in case... you know ,

  • Glad you got it fixed! I like the idea of the rotary but sure wish the engine was more easily rebuildable than it is.

  • @addplusminus35 Dude, it is so much more than a "just to be different" engine.. I've never owned an Rx but did drive an Fd Rx7 for a weekend and WOW! Amazing car, the rotory is almost like a turbine, super smooth, high revving and plenty powerful.. I'd never own one though due to the extreme thirst and questionable reliability..

  • The only time my Rx8 does such bullshit is when i don't rev my engine up to 3500 rpm for 15 seconds before turning off for the day, thus avoid flooding and engine failure. Look out fr the video saying how to maintain rx8.

  • how much oil does it use ? so by that i mean 1 liter of oil on how many miles? ( i can convert it to km )

  • I've got a rx8, had the recall for the oil lines but guess what the dealer only could be bothered to replace the easy side (n/s). Oh yes other side now leaking! Plus £200 for a replacement line from Mazda. Bottom line if you have had the recall, you better to check that they could be bothered to do the full job. Was really simple to do aswell no drama.

SN95 mustangs have a nice sex appeal...Ever thought about swapping the engine for a modern engine so you dont have to worry all the time?...is there enough room under the hood and chasis to fit a v6 motor and tranny?
