  • We lost Brutus (the noblest puppy of them all) October of 1997, and i still tear up when I'm forced to confront his passing. We had a final walk just like this one; and a final pee just outside the vet's. It may be the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I was with him to the end, and at least I had the choice to end his life with dignity. - my poor baby.

  • @poissonnoir

so very sorry. some say times heals but I don't think so when a wonderful dog has too leave us. we have moved on to another fine pup but alas that fateful day I dread awaits. we need to be like dogs and live for the moment. take care

  • I just lost my buddy, Damascus, on on October 14th, 2009. I loved him as much as a human could love a dog.

  • so sorry to hear this bad news

    hope you feel better soon.

  • and just think the dog has no clue whats gonna happen

  • not knowing her own unfortunate demise is the grace a dog earns throughout its life

  • I would have loved to have 1 more last walk with my Rosie but she had fallen so ill and was unable to walk so we rode around in the truck a couple hours and I loved her to the end that day 1-21-2007. Both my Setters Sammy and Rosie (both rescues) left tons of paw prints all over my heart.

  • 18 years? That seems almost unheard of! Mine just passed away yesterday at 10. I am so sad. I have had them all my life and have never known one to live that long. Sure would love to get pup from your setters blood line and find out what you feed him.

  • sorry to hear that you had to make that hard decision and put her asleep.i bet she still runs around you without your knowing.i lost my 15 years old lab 5months ago.im still devastated.

  • We lost our Irish setter year ago. He was 11 yo without a month/ He suffered bone cancer (sarcoma) and lived after desease had been discovered only 5 months. We had been told that this is very frequent desease for Irish setters and dicided to have next dog - the setter breed other than Irish setter.

  • I lost my Boxer Dog Sophie last summer she lasted a long time i had her since i was two now we migth get an Irish Setter!

  • I had a Wolf-Keeshond-German shepard mix named sadie. She was only 3 when she died a horrible way. She killed a rat that had eaten rat poison so she had it in her brain now. She was deliriouse. So one day i went on my bus to go to school, didnt know she followd me and she chased the bus and.... Got ran over. While I was riding it. I feel like i killed my own dog.:( i looked back and saw her try to get up. i yelled for my bus guy to stop but he wouldnt. ~*I miss you sadie.*~I <3 you. see you soon

  • Shannon passed away Jan 1991 at age 12. I never got another dog - I miss her too much. No other dog could fill her place in my heart. I hope to meet her at the Rainbow Bridge someday - I know she'll be there. Not too sure about me.

  • We lost our 10 year old Red Setter Purdy on the 28th October. I miss the chaos! The unconditional love she gave us all. Something about Setters that you can't describe to anyone.

  • Setter is in heaven now :)

  • Awww poor Ripley. She seems like a good dog!
