This is an utterly rubbish and unoriginal idea, -for what used to be a very creatively marketed brand. The concept of spoofing a sports commentator in ads would have been highly boring over 30 years ago, -for any brand. Yet even to compare a BA TV commercial from the 80s would completely outshine the modern and unimaginative cliche we now have. Where has all the originality and iconic stand out brilliance of British Airways gone? The team who put this together really should have stayed in bed.

Wow, British Airways was awesome. The comfort of the seat was much better than Emirates, and the cabin crew was very friendly. I flew from Endinburgh to London to Istanbul for a holiday. And the only problem was our luggage was found sitting on the tarmac at Heathow rather than Istanbul. But BA is brilliant, makes me pleased to be British, compared to the other airlines. And well done, on your advert, It was the first ad to give me goosebumps.

Hi - the ad is a light-hearted look at how excited we are about the coming Olympic and Paralympic Games, and how we are ready to welcome the world in 2012. We hoped the UK audience would like the ad and feel the same as we do. Thank you.

Rubbish Idea? A little harsh. Would it have been improved by a pilot receiving a knighthood in the commercial?

I couldnt disagree more. A point of an ad is not only to sell your product, it can be a number of things. This advert clearly promotes brand recognition. Being associated with a loved world wide event, will ultimately help being perceieved positively by the public. Cadbury's gorilla advert can be deemed at pointless, however it has had over 6 million views.
