While I was watching the anime, I felt sort of lonely for Caroline, because it always seemed like she was chasing after George and she loved him more than he loved her (I'm not sure that was the case, but it seemed that way quite often). That's why, even though the ending was bittersweet, I loved that George opened Caroline's eyes to independence, and that ultimately she chose her dreams even over her lover. Very touching story; definitely one of my favorites.

@19chubbyisoo91 I agree. I think that George actually cared about her quite a lot, but he liked the person he was molding her into much more than the person she was when they met. I always thought that if she wasn't engaged at the end of the series and they reunited, they would be able to make it work.

@YouTheMockerystfu watch it its only i think 13 episodes! Its soooo good I have a scroll for it on the wall in my apartment. Its basically about a realistic romance and how people in your life can change you and make you stronger person. NANA is from the same writer and its pretty good also but its 10 times longer. So if you like this you might like NANA also

well the anime/manga is more realistic/ real life first love it comes n goes while the movie maybe more innocent but lets face the fact that n real life ppl have sex and make out b4 theyre married and u dnt always end up or barely ever end up with ur first love
