By the way maestro, this particular chord you like a lot that you start with is an
A maj9#11 with out a third. Pretty cool. The SRV cord is a b9 without a 5th. Leaving the 3rd and 5th out of chords like this makes it sound a bit discordant, and gives it a nice off balance feel that begs to be resolved.

It's an E9....you could play it as a triad the way you have notated...but you wouldn't play the other strings. 3rd chord is the "5" of this 1 4 5 progession. So, it is an F#9. I'm starting them a half step down and sliding up...to give the progession some motion!
