3D effects with nothing more than "normal" video. To experience the Pulfrich Effect you'll need a pair of sunglasses. Turn them sideways and look through one of the dark lenses with one eye and nothing through the other. Place the dark glass on the leading side of the motion: if the motion is occurring from right to left, then put the dark side on your left eye, and vice versa. Be sure to look at the screen with both eyes. When the motion stops, the effect is over... sorry.

  • It gets even better if you back up from your screen a bit.

I am glad everyone likes this one so much!

  • This was at the NC State Fair in Raleigh

  • Those instructions make no sense at all.

  • Hmmm, nobody else has a problem. Click the "more info" button to see the rest of the instructions. The instructions go on to explain viewing of ALL Pulfrich effect videos, not just this one. Good Luck!

  • Wtf how it works...??

  • Your brain interprets the light lag between the left and right eyes as a perception of depth.

Try putting the glasses over the other eye. The people in the back will get the Pulfrich Effect, just not as cool.

  • I achieve the same effect by squinting.

  • Holy rockamole

  • @photophile The thing is you'll need a slightly darker image on one eye ..This is why he says turn them sideways.you can also do this with anything over one eye and nothing on the eye .For ex. one eye gets a dark lens while the other is naked

  • 0:15 WTF!

  • its horibale lets leave it at that

  • How come it doesn't work for some videos?

  • Wow ! Amazing !

  • Finally, a video that actually worked with these damn Pulfrich glasses!

  • This was demonstrated on the UK show "Bang goes the Theory" - but I had no broken sunglasses with which to view the effect. Then a couple of weeks ago, i found a pair of sunglasses with the left lens missing. The lens is not that dark but the effect is noticeable. I turned the glasses upside down so the lens was over my left eye. Very interesting effect from normal video. Your explanation of the light lag was given in BGTT - spot on! Thank you.

  • That's AMAZING! :D
