A 5 Axis Robotic Arm Sorts Blocks by Color and Shape. The arm is controlled by a computer that executes a program written in PBASIC. The blocks are identified using a jig with a switch to detect the presence (or absence) of a hole in the block; blue: no holes, yellow: one, and red: two holes. Then the blocks identity is verified using a color sensor that confirms the blocks conformance. The color sensor is hosted by a basic stamp microcontroller, and the microcontroller tells the robotic arm whether to reject or accept the block. This is an example of manufacturing process control.
