Yes, she is big. I have seen her several times, but I can assure you that when she opens her mouth you won't see it anymore. The quality of sound just nails you to the wall. The way she makes music with her instrument! There are almost no singers in the world these days who can hypnotize you with their voice like she does. Today singers have to look like fashion models because they CAN'T sing. What else are they going to offer?

@shakaama I am 5'11 and she is taller than i am, 6'2 -6'3. I happen to see her in Toranto in the late 90s. and she is not big, she is HUGE!!!! I mean 300LBS BUT? she carries that weight like a model, she is pure gold. voice, attitude, speaks German, Excellent French, Italian, Spanish and English..
I last met her in person in Berlin in 2009. she has lost at least 100lbs and is looking great... but still the Empress of the stage. and voice in Excellent shape at 66 years old

I love her, don't get me wrong but my estimates would put her at 5'11' and 270lbs. with at least a size 11 shoe... Her size is part of what makes her voice unique. With a such a huge rib cage and cavernous space she can do things that other "Dramatic" sopranos can't.
