There is no need to apologize for a misstatement. I agree with you in your assessment of those verses, but only in the sense that those verses tell us in a clear and unmistakable way that God Himself gives someone faith. It is His gift to someone who is spiritually dead. And if we are to say that God's act of giving faith to someone who does not have a saving faith in Jesus is an act of mercy, then I agree.

I will have to get back with you. What I should of said earlier, was That faith comes from hearing the Word of God. I apologize.

But I believe those scriptures refer to God's mercy.  That many are called, but few are chosen. Again, I'll have to get back with you.
