Filmed at approx 18-20 degrees Fahrenheit (-7 Celsius), not plugged in, engine temperature completely cold. My camera doesn't "see" very well in low light. The good: new fuel filters, recent diesel purge done, good battery, Mobil-1 5w-40 synthetic oil, valves adjusted to spec. The bad: original series-type glow plugs of unknown age (preheat time of 60 seconds was cut from the video as that's a long time to watch nothing), almost 300,000 miles with moderate blowby, 50% biodiesel/50% #2 USLD in the tank, injectors wearing out. Will it start? Yes! Will it smoke? Yes! You can depend on your Mercedes!

  • And it starts... despite a little of the typical cold diesel knocking, it starts up... No surprises there...
