From the 1937 fim "Glamorous Night".
A rare treat, this, for Ivor Novello fans - Mary Ellis reprises her 1935 stage success "Glamorous Night" in this 1937 film., singing the title song and a version of "Fold YOur Wings" from the same show.
Miss Ellis was born in New York in 1897. She created the role of Suor Genovieffa in Puccini's "Suor Angelica" at the Metropolitan Opera in 1918, and later made her name starring as Rose-Marie La Flamme in the original Broadway production of Rudolf Friml's Rose-Marie in 1924 in which she introduced "The Indian Love Call".
She settled in London in 1930 where, as well as starring in Jerome Kern's "Music In The Air" (1933), she also was the heroine of three Ivor Novello operettas, "Glamorous Night" (1935), "The Dancing Years" (1939), and "Arc de Triomphe" (1943). Miss Ellis died aged 105 in 2003
