1989 Odessa Permian vs Midland Lee

Set a year after my last video, Gary Gaines sought his first win against the Lee Rebels in Midland. On his way to a state and national title, he led his team to a huge win over Farris Strambler and Vince Henderson. Arvey Villa, Chris Comer, Stony Case, and Lloyd Hill all turned in great games. After trailing for the first time all year 13-10 early in the fourth quarter, the Mojo Magic came back and went on a drive for the ages. But Midland Lee wasn't finished yet as they faced one last play from the Panther 4 with only :05 left.

Yes, there was. It was at a truck stop. It wasn't as dramatic as the movie made it, but they did confuse one of the coins.

@dustinsky79 - I was in the stands, too, but on the other side. Strambler couldn't be stopped... you could "slow him down", but never stop him.

ya, the movie wasnt completely factual, however, the book by hg bissinger was. i was a big midland lee fan. i was only 9 but i was at this game. i remember talking to ferris strambler's mom in the stands. i cried when permian stopped us.
