Yup - keep griping about the hit - ignore the fact that Kariya got back up and scored. I'm embarrassed by the people who post here who don't play. But go ahead pansies!!! Complain, whine, call the police. Last of all, appreciate good hockey by both players. But you'll never get it.

You see.....the problem with Stevens is.....well he's an idiot!
Interestingly NHL has shut the door on this guy...its like he never existed...no interviews no opinions sought.......they probably wish they could take the HOF induction away...as he represents everything that hockey today tries to get away from...
You know that even ancient Romans eventually put a stop to fights to the death among gladiators....as people even then realized it not what they wanted to see.
Stevens = embarrassment!

@Tron9800 Horton's to blame there as well, it's not Rome's responsibility for Horton to keep his head up.

came to this video after i read the article in sports illustrated this week. all I can say is holy cow. i'm all for big hits and everything but this is ridiculous. Kariya could easily have been killed from that hit.

I agree with you 100 percent. I do feel that hockey needs to take the perspective that they need to intentionally expect to lose some of these goon type fans. It has to happen, hockey will finally get back the solid intelligent hockey fans. I recall playing ball hockey, I remember good friends of mine always talking trash about the skilled players, and they were just shit when it came to there own skills. Hockey should be about the best skaters, best stick handlers.

It's very similar to Rome vs. Horton....but I'd say Stevens hit Kariya earlier than Rome hit Horton. Stevens had Kariya lined up loooong before he dished the puck. Rome saw he was going to get beat by a speedy Horton in flight. He could have decided to tie him up and take a penalty. He went for the hit, presumably figuring it was the "legal" way to avoid an odd-man rush. If Horton sees him coming and braces for the hit, I don't think the refs would even call a penalty.
