Wow! Did that little piece of sky just crash on your head? Environmentalists predict imminent and global disaster destined to hit us in ... well ... 10 years ago. Yes, these are predictions from 1970 and now you can decide for yourself if environMENTALists are WACKOS. Is all this REALLY about the earth, or are they trying to sell you SNAKE OIL?

While Glenn Beck gives us the straight facts, on Fox News ("fair and unafraid"), enjoy your burnt-out cinder of a planet and hope you didn't buy any of that "environmentally friendly" oil:

"Yesterday was Earth Day and yesterday I started to share with you some of the things they've said about the environment over the years. Experts, doctors, scientists. I just want to give this list. Listen to some of these dire warnings from 1970."

ENVIRONMENTAL PREDICTIONS

* "Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind."
Biologist George Wald
Harvard University
April 19, 1970

* By 1995, "... somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct."
Sen. Gaylord Nelson
quoting Dr. S. Dillion Ripley
Look magazine
April 1970

* The world will be "... eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age."
Ecologist Kenneth Watt
speaking at Swarthmore University
April 19, 1970

* "By 1985, air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half ..."
Life magazine
January 1970

* "In 1973, 200,000 Americans would die from air pollution, and by 1980 the life expectancy of Americans will be 42 years."
Scientist Paul Ehrlich (author of "Population Bomb")
interview in Mademoiselle magazine
April 1970

* "It is already too late to avoid mass starvation."
Earth Day organizer Denis Hayes
The Living Wilderness
spring 1970

  • Did he really just act like famine in third world countries was not that bad ? .. Im pretty sure he said "glad we live here" WHAT AN ASSHOLE

  • Glenn tried to have Gore on with him, so Al could explain these Inconvenient Truths from 1970.... I seem to remember some 'environmentalists' in the 1980's & 90's clinging to their catasrophic lies - as long as their books keep selling - Gore's books etc. keep on selling...maybe that's why he wouldn't come on the air with Glenn or anyone else.

  • wow i hate this guy. he seems to completely avoid the fact that starting right after 1970 some of the largest environmental programs and regulations were implemented by the U.S. government, so actually we have avoided some of the more moderate predictions (such as the sunlight prediction; look up Linfen, China). And has he even looked at the malnutrition statistics for the undeveloped world? incredible...

  • Yeah we need to listen to people who NEVER change their minds based on new data. Leeches were good enough for George Washington, of course he died as a resolute of being bled for disease.

  • Yeah! I mean who needs these "expects" anyway! I mean they are only right 95% of the time! And we all know that free market could close the gap if just the government didn't get in the way with their communist "experts"! Motherfucking statist Nazis! I rely on Penn and Teller for most stuff anyway!

    RON PAUL 2012!!!

  • @piebaldify Showing just how bad so-called "experts" are at making predictions.

  • @piebaldify 49 years from now, they will say the same thing about the scientists today.

  • @joeyguy1986 i mean yeah but 40 years ago they sucked at that kind of thing. we've made a couple advancements in science since then... and we've had record breaking temperatures every summer for the past 10 years.. i mean i guess its possible that its devine punishment or a left wing conspiracy to take over the world and al gore is the next hitler and the environmentalists are the hitler youth... i'm not SAYING thats true i'm just saying its EXACTLY LIKE THAT..

  • @piebaldify He was proving that the doom and gloom prophecies the environmentalists were throwing out in the 1970s were absolutely false when they were crying about global cooling. How are we to believe them now when they are crying about global warming when all the things they predicted in 1970 never happened.

  • lol these are all quotes from 1970, a little dated are we glenn?
