I will always like the Ledges. I was there month ago. The entire upper part was weeds, the camping area was small and felt uncomfortable because of budget cut in States Money. Also the flooding from the river has taken it's troll. I hike down the road to lower Ledges. It was a total mess. At on time it was a beautiful park. What a waste
Unfortunately, the canyon road is closed for the rest of the year, as well as the lower county road. Both roads have been closed most of the year because of flooding caused by the water backing up from Saylorville to protect irresponsible development in Des Moines, and now the flash flooding caused severe damge to bridges and crossing.
In the mid 1960's my family and I visited this park and enjoyed the animals and scenery. I still treasure the home movies I had transfered to video years ago. Thanks for posting. It's nice to know new families are still enjoying the park.
