This is an educational video illustrating how mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells can be microinjected into a mouse blastocyst to eventually generate a genetically modified animal. These mice are most helpful and constitute a unique resource as animal models to study diseases affecting human beings. This video has been kindly provided by Johannes Wilbertz, from the Karolinska Institute, in Stockholm (Sweden) and belongs to a large collection of educational videos available from the International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT) web site.
