  • jack zipes and maria tatar!!!!!!! thanks for posting this.

  • I watch a lot of Philoctetes' discussions, but I don't recall watching so incredible and outstanding video ever. It's the most enchanting discussion that starts with a fantastic opening and it draws you in gradually like a spell. It boasts of many brilliant insights like the point about a schoolteacher reading the story of Bluebeard to Richard Wright. Another great point is the discussion about the difference between myths and fairy tales - real food for thought.

  • However when the Bard is brought into the discussion it bursts like a bubble - he did not write any fairy tales, ergo he doesn't fit into this discussion as far as I'm concerned. Fortunately, questions from the audience and brilliant remarks from Donna Jo Napoli soon retrieve the brilliant and insightful atmosphere, they really save the day.

  • In what circles are these people well known?

  • Maria Tatar is a goddess.
