Well Molly for what it's worth, your grandpa is a living legend. Savor every minute with him you can because God only made one George Shuffler and he's a great pioneer of Bluegrass music. I drove almost 15 hours when I was in my 20's to see your Grandpa play and looking back it was a very short drive and well worth it.

George Shuffler did a fantastic job on this song.. Sure he is a little slow but his 82 year old fingers don't move as fast as they used to. I have known George for 48 years and it is a wonder that he did't just stop playing and demand a different bass player. I can't even imagine trying to play a song with that awful noise in the background. When I first started playing in the early 70's George told me "If you have to read music, you can never play in the dark." I am glad I play by ear.....

Try real hard to pay some respect... He played with Ralph and Carter for years. He played great Lead and his singing was also wonderful. Maybe you should get on your Jet and fly to idiot island.

I've been playing the bass for 20 years and can play what a friend we have in Jesus in any key blindfolded, stoned with both hands and feet behind my back. Has nothing to do with the guitar player or anything else. He doesn't have the ear to hear the chord nor the melody and has no clue where he is, weather its jack cooke or whoever. They cannot play a bass guitar. Any gospel bass player has played this song a million times...I know I had by the time I was 10
I had the great opportunity to meet George Shuffler at the Hills of Home Festival in 2009. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met in the business. He ranks up there with James Alan Shelton in being nice to people. He even picked my 1945 D-18. The guy is close to 90 years old. I would never mention a mistake. Also, unless you've traveled the roads like I have, sound systems can also keep even the bass player from hearing. So back off my buddy Jack Cooke!
