"Sur le fil" is a hand drawn animation short, made over the course of two days, during a film and animation beginners workshop at our school (Bachelor of Arts in Education), in august 2007.

My friend Antoine did the stopmotion capture and video editing, while I made the drawings and wrote the story.

We have no background in art or animation of any kind, so this is truly an amateur work, and we hope you'll like it !

@kujasp ah ok i see... Can you give me tipps on the lighting im making stopmotion vids and am trying to get a youtube acc that works(im writing on ipod) and how many frames do i need per sec to not make it look too rigged but still not waste too much paper? PLEASE HELP im helpless...

@guthixXXL, I don't really know about lighting, and it depends a lot on your setup, filming room, etc. Can't really help there.

As for the frames per second, we went with 12. Meaning you just double each frame, so that it doesn't go too fast and still looks smooth enough. Here, we were also able to loop the walking sequence, meaning paper and time economy.

Did you... You did that on PC right? Not actual paper that would be like 600 wasted papers but watever... Good work 0_o

@guthixXXL, we actually did it on paper. It was a few years ago during a beginner's class in traditionnal animation. So, no computer animation allowed !

It sure would have made it easier, but it was not the point.
