This is a sample of our (former) band's cover of These Boots Are Made For Walkin' by Nancy Sinatra. We called ourselves Lease on Life. We'd always refer to the song as "Boots". This is our very first live performance as a band. Through time we fine-tuned the song and gave it more edge. It was one of my faves to perform!
Our first performance, though a bit rough, was one of our proudest moments. We put everything together start to finish. The guys built the stage we were on (which was carpeted to protect the equipment) and the drum riser. Two of the speakers were built by Aaron and Dennis with the guideance of our awesome friend, Bryan (over the phone, no less)! They were SOLID! You can see only an edge of it at the very end of the video. (It's a natural wood color.) We purchased and/or obtained any of the equipment needed. The trailer behind us was borrowed and used as our "dressing room", storing backup equipment, guitar cases, drinks, etc. Our sound guy, Tony, is a friend of the drummer and worked on tour for Sammy Hagar. He rocked! We, with our families & friends, supplied the food, drinks, the porto-john, and even a jump house for kids. We had to secure a permit from the department of transportation for the set up in the street and for the noise. So aside from all of our practices, day jobs, family time, and home responsibilities, we invested a lot of time and energy into our first performance.
It was FABULOUS! People driving by would stop to watch and listen, and people in the neighborhood came to watch... and some even started dancing in the street!
To top off the awesomeness of the night, when we were at our time limit for the permit we had to end the last song and immediately start breaking down the stage, and put everything away and off the street. All of our family and friends got up and immediately started this assembly line to move it along... in their good clothes and all. I can't believe how quickly everything was put away.
