Her light and fluffy April 1970 debut smash hit, All Kinds of Everything, was gone from the UK charts by August. But by February 1971 she was back, this time with a much more serious song that caused this excellent video to exist. A new monthly pop show, Disco, was about to be launched on German TV, and DANA was one of 10 acts chosen to appear on it, singing Who Put the Lights Out. Did a film crew from the show go to great expense to produce unique promo's of each artiste, to be shown prior to their performance? Each programme ran for 45 minutes, so not enough time to air all of them, unless it was specially extended to gain good reviews and ratings. Or maybe DANA's was the only one they made before running out of cash. If so, it was money well spent. Perhaps the answer lies in the film's German commentary.
This video was originally uploaded on 30/8/11, her 60th birthday, but the quality was poor, and this second attempt is not much better. Repeats of Disco are still being shown, so one day a German fan of hers will present us with a superior copy AND translate the commentary. One day...
