Director's Commentary:
As I'm obsessed with "Imperial Odyssey" this film is probably one of the most fun I've ever had making. There wasn't much dialog and character interaction, pushing aside these things for more fight sequences. Usually I'm not a big fan of movies that are all punch and no talk, but for "The Relic" it just seemed to fit. I focused mainly on cinematography with this film, and I think it turned out as one of the most visually appealing shorts I've produced yet. Our 3 stunt guys worked tirelessly to make a flowing fight that was both brutal and flashy. After loads of work they pulled it off, and combined with a little After Effects magic, we really pulled the viewer into the battle. The car scene was the most difficult to do. First we shot on a blue screen, then shot the scene in real life. Using the best clips from both we spliced the action together to make a (near) flawless fight. Sometime it's hard to tell what is real and what is blue screen. My favorite part of this movie is the forest scene. Composing a semi-operatic score to a slow motion fight scene is much harder than one would expect. In addition to all the usual sound effects we had to fill in gaps with some complicated Foley work and sound design. "Imperial Odyssey - The Relic" is by far my best action film and I'm very proud of it. I hope you have as much fun watching as I did directing.
lol i saw the figh scee in the car and i was u fucking dumbasses wat if he crashed the car and then i was oh shit they using a green screen. ima fail
