@f1educator Stats are stats. No escaping them. They are only misleading if you mis-interpret or don't understand the (simple) maths involved in them...
As for not being able to measure overall driver form (a "Trend") with stats; Of course you can, this is exactly what statistical information was invented for!

@Charkow1943 senna didnt have active suspension cause he didnt want it. he was against the whole electronic revolution. though he did have tc, schumacher also raced at donington with a better car... i think its also logical that senna lapping everyone but one at 1985 portugul gp with a much more difficult car to handle... i think the big skill difference between schummy and senna is inevitable...

@kakopsyxos ru mad?

WTF? The percentage means shit, as you can see with Vettel for example.
Michael Schumacher is the one and only rainmaster. Spain 1996, without TC, ABS and active suspension. Senna in Donington 93: TC, ABS, active suspension. Compare those two rides and you see the difference.

@alin1975 statistics isn't everything, there are many good drivers that just weren't lucky and never won a championship, for example ronnie peterson, you should watch gilles racing with his front wing broken in the rain, it was in canada in 1981, there you have an example of some extremely good car control in the rain

My point was not that Gilles was incompetent (and of course I have seen him race). It was just that he had very few wins, and this video looks at wet weather wins only (not other stats). But ok, Boutsen got on here so I suppose Gilles could have too.
As far as I can see Gilles won 2 races in the wet. No idea how many wet weather starts he had though.
In any case, the stats do get a bit silly (and I count Boutsen & Rosberg here) when a driver has so few wins.

@alin1975 At the funeral in Berthierville former team-mate Jody Scheckter delivered a simple eulogy: "I will miss Gilles for two reasons. First, he was the fastest driver in the history of motor racing. Second, he was the most genuine man I have ever known. But he has not gone. The memory of what he has done, what he achieved, will always be there." you should look up some of villeneuves videos, on one occasion in rain he made a 11 seconds faster lap than the second driver

But Gilles only won 6 races in his whole career in any weather...

@rexuro64 Only a few drivers come to mind for that - Heidfeld, Satoru Nakajima, Gilles, Mansell but even they had their off days and none came close to the consistency of Senna, even in terms of out-performing the car (say starting low and finishing high but not actually winning). The best drivers usually and eventually find themselves in the best car...
