Short video documenting how poorly CorePlayer by CoreCodec run on newer HTC based devices. This video was run on a AT&T Fuze (HTC Touch Pro) but people with HTC Diamonds, and the new HTC Touch HD are noticing the same. Consider what you see here before purchasing CorePlayer for your Windows Mobile Devices.

Video you see on phone was encoded with following settings:

Video Format: MPEG-4 AVC
Resolution: 640x360
Video bitrate: 1000 kbps
frame rate: 29.97 fps
Audio format: AAC
Audio bitrate: 96 kbps, 48kHz sample rate
Thanks to Sketchy on XDA for these settings.

New owners of HTC devices: Buyer Beware of CorePlayer!!!

  • How do you get mp4 files to play in WMP on the Fuze? I cannot see the file when I try to open it. Is there something missing (e.g. - codec or driver) to where I cannot see the file? I can play the file through the camera/video player but is very very choppy. I have many videos in mp4 format and would like to watch them onmy Fuze. Thanks!

  • The files need to be encoded with the settings shown in the videos description in the upper right and then they will play very well in WMP. There are encoding utilities that have been developed by XDA members specifically for these settings. Check there for more in depth help if you need it.

    Hope that helps

  • Thanks for the email back. Just another question what did you do to put the videos onto your diamond did you copy from pc then paste in video folder on phone or did you use another program??

    Thanks again

  • Well, it's not on a diamond, its a Fuze (Touch Pro) so I just put them on the micro SD card. On a diamond, you would just copy over to device memory using USB cable and activesync (windows)

  • Instead of using core player and using the default windows media player can you make the video go to full screen. Also is windows media player capable of playing mp4 videos??

    Thanks

  • The video is playing in full screen in both players, although I wouldn't necessarily call the what coreplayer is doing "playing"....

The video being played is an mp4.
