  • In September 2005 Hurricane Rita completely leveled the small beach town. Almost nothing was left but ruins and the water tower. This was the second time Holly Beach was devastated by a hurricane; in 1957 Hurricane Audrey smashed ashore with a 12 foot storm surge.

  • @daughterofmedusa I know. One of my subs put me on to this song. Are there any plans to restore the beach?

  • It's called Muddy Beach coming from a cajun Sha

  • @techjunkie365 As long as they're good eatin' near by, I don't care what they call it!

  • I've got a nutria jaw with the orange teeth intact from the Creole Nature Trail.

  • @minnesotanice2949 lol I can't begin to tell you how badly I've wanted one of those!

  • i bought a sharktooth necklace years ago from the gift shop on holly beach.. i miss that place..

  • I actually found the on a wiki about Holly Beach but for some reason it would not allow me to post the link.

There is some information there about how people are repopulating the area with travel trailers but there is no usable sewage system and they have made the building codes so complicated that no one is able to build. My family lives in Lake Charles and I have been there before. I do hope they restore things. Google Holly beach and you can see the wiki on it. Thanks for posting this!

  • @9thWardJukebox

I also bought a pair of earrings made from nutria teeth. The teeth....on ear hooks. I love them. I got them years ago in Lafayette. I'll look them up online & see if they're available anywhere. People don't respond well to them--glad to hear you like them.

  • @kagomeshuko I like both but I tend to enjoy nature trails more then beaches. However, I have been to probably every beach in the Caribbean and most are not as pretty as those from Pensacola all the way over to Destine and I'm sure, a bit further east of Destine.
