I've watched this whole cutscene several times before.
Everytime I'm drawn into watching all 30 minutes of it over and over intently.

Uhh, he fired but he kinda..........how do I explain it.......he missed on purpose.....he must've moved the gun at the last second, not able to actually kill himself.
